RA Training

Training to be a research assistant is as follows:

Read these General Employment Policies

By virtue of accepting an RA position, you agree to keep BYU student employment policies, including:

  • Be professional in appearance and in the execution of your job duties.
  • Keep average weekly work hours within the limits set by the supervisor.
  • Clock in and out of work accurately.  Make corrections as needed.

    • Desktop Browser: Login to Workday.byu.edu. Click Time in the menu on the left-hand side. Click Time Clock History. Edit work hours as needed.
    • Mobile Device: Download the Workday app and login. Click Time Tracking in the Apps menu within the Workday app. Click Enter Time. Edit work hours as needed.
  • Personally follow safety rules and enforce safety rules as you direct other students. 
  • Maintain privacy of students. 

Complete the Required Safety Trainings on Workday

All MFGEN first time employees are required to take the following trainings before beginning work in your respective labs:

  1. Manufacturing Engineering Basic Safety Training Program

    1. Basic Safety Introduction to Health and Safety in College
    2. Basic Safety Emergency Response
    3. Basic Safety Fire Extinguishers
    4. Hazard Communication Training for College of Engineering
    5. Subpart K Training
  2. Walk-in Spray Booth (College of Engineering)
  3. 2025 University Core Training Program
  4. FERPA Training (This is on the Enrollment Services website, not Workday)

You should clock in and out for the time you are completing the training.

Additional safety training may be required by your supervisor, depending on your work location and responsibilities.
