Jason Weaver

Assistant Professor

265H CTB

Dr. Jason Weaver is an Assistant Professor of Manufacturing Engineering, specializing in additive manufacturing and design. He holds a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Manufacturing and Design. He also holds a B.S. from Brigham Young University and an M.S. from The University of Texas, both in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining BYU, Professor Weaver worked as a Senior Systems Engineer and Nuclear Safety Lead at Sandia National Laboratories, where he represented safety interests on integrated design teams modernizing several nuclear weapons. Professor Weaver currently teaches courses on Design for X (including design for manufacturability and assembly, quality, sustainability, usability, etc.) and statistical data analysis. His primary research focus is the area of additive manufacturing (or 3D printing), with particular interests in multi-material additive and hybrid manufacturing. He is also interested in how to harness the benefits of 3D printing for designers, students & educators, manufacturers, and consumers. Professor Weaver serves as the faculty advisor for BYU’s Student Innovator of the Year Competition and the Venture Factory product development club and makerspace.
