BYU Supermileage Team Wins First Place

BYU Team

Traveling from Provo to Niagara falls on one tank of gas? 🤯 That’s what the vehicle BYU’s Supermileage Team created proved capable of at the Shell Eco-marathon!

The competition took place on the famous Indianapolis motor speedway. However, the goal of this competition was NOT speed. The goal was to create the most fuel efficient vehicle possible, and BYU Supermileage Team’s vehicle took home first place!

The team consisted of 3 students from 3 different engineering fields (manufacturing, electrical, and mechanical) who brought their skill and expertise together to create the winning vehicle. When talking about the experience, Yazan Tuffaha, the manufacturing engineering student on the team, shared that “everybody was contributing as much as they could — it was a great feeling.”
